Heartlands Academy named 6th highest performing school in the country
Having worked in education for the last 25 years, as a classroom teacher, Head of Department, senior member of staff and Headteacher, I have experienced many proud moments that I will always remember. However, I am privileged to write to you today to inform you of something that fills me with pride far beyond my previous experiences.
Out of 6489 secondary schools in England, Heartlands Academy has been named today as the 6th highest performing school in the entire country for progress.
As a community, you know that strong GCSE outcomes are absolutely crucial for today’s young people in a competitive and uncertain job market, and this league table clearly demonstrates that Heartlands Academy is among the very best schools in the country in securing outstanding outcomes for our students, because we care about them and their futures.
The league table also confirms the Progress 8 score of 1.46, a truly exceptional figure. In real terms, this means that every single one of our Year 11 students in Summer 2019 achieved a grade and a half higher in each and every one of their qualifications compared to similar students nationally. Their achievement is a testament to their own hard work and commitment, as well as the unfailing support of you as parents and carers.
We ask a lot of our students, and of you as parents and carers, and we make no apologies for that. We expect the very best from our students, and this is why we are able to achieve the very best results.
Having said that, this achievement would not have been possible without the passion and dedication of the staff of Heartlands Academy, whose willingness to go above and beyond far exceeds any other group of staff I have worked with. They deserve our thanks and our gratitude for always putting your children first.
I am immensely proud of our students, staff, school and community, and I know that you will join me in that pride as Heartlands Academy is celebrated and recognised nationally as the exceptional school that it is.
