Marvet McAnuff – Independent Careers Advisor
The Careers Education Programme at Heartlands Academy is complemented by one-to-one careers advice and guidance from Marvet McAnuff, Independent Careers Adviser. Students in Years 8 – 11 have access to impartial one-to-one advice from Marvet every Tuesday. This can be facilitated through appointments or lunchtime drop-ins for quick careers queries. Marvet’s experience in this field means that students have the opportunity to explore a range of possible future pathways, including both college, apprenticeships and higher-level apprenticeships. If requested, Marvet will also engage with parents and carers to best support the child in their next steps.
Further to independent careers advice appointments, Marvet also supports the academy in a wider capacity with events such as Kudos (Year 8) and provides opportunities for providers of technical education and apprenticeship teams to access students in Years 8 to 11.
Louise Seddon – Enterprise Adviser
Our Enterprise Adviser works directly with Heartlands Academy’s senior leadership team to support our careers programme. She combines her passion for raising the aspirations of young people with their strategic skills, to help put opportunities with local employers at the heart of a young person’s education.
Louise Seddon helps to support GRAHAM Construction and their project management teams to create a valued lasting impact within the communities where they operate.
Together, Heartlands Academy and Louise will make a difference by building lasting relationships to increase industry awareness, support education, and increase skills to create and sustain local employment. Helping industries to bring through new waves of emerging talent, that will be one day responsible for shaping industry futures.
