Students have the opportunity to attend instrumental lessons provided by Birmingham Music Service.
Current instrumental tuition includes drumming, dhol drums, woodwind, steel pans and guitar.
Students are encouraged to use the recording studio during lunchtimes and after school, whether it is recording a solo vocal piece, refining a track using Logic Pro software, or putting down tracks for a complex band recording.
We also offer opportunities for students to participate in many ensembles free of charge; these include wind band, rock band, drumline and choir.
- Students are able to refine their keyboard skills in this extra-curricular music session, exploring the correct finger patterns, scales and arpeggios, chords and playing different pieces of music ranging from classical music to popular music. By the end of each half-term, students will be made to perform their pieces of music that they have been working on through the weeks.
- The specific activities available for students will be using keyboards, developing technical skills (such as learning different chord patterns, improvising, learning repertoire and bringing any pieces of music they want to learn to practice in this time.
- All Key Stage 3 students are able to partake in the Keyboard club.
Music tech club
- Students in the music tech club explore how to use music tech software, exploring how music is made using technology by composing their own pieces of music, choosing genres of their own choice. At the end of the half-term, students finish their pieces and give an explanation of how their music is a representation of the genre they have chosen.
