Following the conclusion of a national recruitment process I am delighted to announce that Mr Fuzel Choudhury is appointed the new headteacher of Heartlands Academy and will be taking up the reins in September 2017.
Mr Choudhury is currently the principal of Rockwood Academy in Alum Rock, Birmingham. Under his leadership the academy has made great strides including a jump from special measures to good in just seven months. Prior to Rockwood Mr Choudhury served with great distinction as assistant headteacher and then deputy headteacher with responsibility for behaviour and inclusion at Dartmouth High School in Great Barr. Gaining academy status Dartmouth was renamed Q3 Academy in April 2007 from which point Mr Choudhury served as senior vice principal with responsibility for teaching, learning and curriculum for eight years.
We are excited by Mr Choudhury’s appointment and feel that his vast experience, expertise and in-depth knowledge of the community that Heartlands Academy serves will be invaluable as he takes up the headship of our outstanding academy.
Please note that Miss Tanner will continue as our acting headteacher until the end of this academic year. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Miss Tanner for her hard work and support during her time as acting headteacher.
Mr Choudhury is very much looking forward to meeting and working closely with parents and guardians in the new term. In the meantime I encourage you to get in touch with Miss Tanner with any questions.
Thank you for your continued support of the academy.
Stuart Bellworthy, Regional Education Director (Midlands)
