World Mental Health Day

11 October 2018

Mental health problems can affect anyone, at any point in their life, on any day of the year. As Wednesday 10 October 2018 was World Mental Health Day, students at Heartlands Academy took the opportunity to show their support for improving mental health provision and looking after their own wellbeing.

Staff across all subjects delivered starters/plenaries about mental health throughout the day. Students learned how mental health is similar to our physical health, everybody has it and we all need to take care of it.

Mental health problems affect one in four people in any given year. They range from common problems, such as depression and anxiety, to rarer problems such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. At lunchtime, students shared positive words of encouragement for improving and looking after one’s mental health.
